SECRETARY-General of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), Ambassador Irwin LaRocque has extended congratulations to the new President of Brazil, His Excellency Jair Bolsonaro, on his recent assumption to office.
In a congratulatory message on behalf of CARICOM, the secretary-general said “your election to your country’s highest office attests to the confidence of the Brazilian electorate in your leadership.”
“The people of Brazil have entrusted you with the critical task of leading the country on its continued path to sustained socio-economic development,” Ambassador LaRocque stated, noting that the Community “highly values the close and friendly relationship that it has forged with Brazil over the years.”
“Our bonds have been strengthened and facilitated by political engagements at the highest levels. The Community looks forward to maintaining and strengthening the relationship and the goodwill and cooperation which characterise CARICOM–Brazil relations,” the message stated. Ambassador LaRocque told the Brazilian President that the Caribbean Community extended its “best wishes” to him and his administration “for a successful term of office as you lead your people to new levels of development and prosperity.”
