A 21-year-old was on Thursday remanded to prison for stabbing an undercover detective during the course of a robbery at Aces Club on Second Street, Alberttown.
Keston Duke, of Bent Street, Werk-en-Rust, appeared before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court and denied the two charges when they were read to him.

Particulars of the charges allege that on December 15, 2018 at Lot 92 Second Street, Alberttown, Duke, while being in the company of another, robbed Julius Bowlin of a gold chain worth $21,000, and a pistol with six rounds of ammunition valued $125,000 in toto, property of the Guyana Police Force.

He was also charged for unlawfully wounding Bowlin during the commission of the robbery.
Police Prosecutor, Inspector Gordon Mansfield strongly opposed Duke’s being granted bail on the grounds that there’s enough CCTV evidence to nail him, and that his victim was not yet out of danger.

Duke reportedly dealt Bowlin several stabs before relieving him of the articles mentioned in the charge.

Mansfield told the court that a day later, the police received an anonymous call telling them where to go to find the stolen firearm.
Duke is to return to court on January 4, 2019.
