A businessman and a doctor were shot and robbed by two gun toting men at Industry Crown Dam, East Coast Demerara on Thursday, minutes after they withdrew money from a commercial bank on the East Coast of Demerara.

The businessman, Dannyram Kissoon who owns a body work shop, went to the bank and withdraw $450,000 and was in the company of his friend, Dr Lewis at the time.The two drove-off and  when Kissoon arrived at this home around midday, a sliver grey Toyota Premio motor car pulled up alongside his car and two men emerged.

One of the men was armed with a gun and demanded the money which Kissoon had withdrawn from the bank.

The bandit then discharged several rounds at the driver side of the victim’s car, hitting both Kissoon and the doctor.The other gunman relieved Kissoon of his money.

The men then made good of their escape while the victims were rushed to a city hospital for treatment.

An eyewitness explained that she was sitting at home when she saw Kissoon’s car pulled-up at his home with the bandit’s car trailing.

“I see when the person (bandits) pulled up to the car and I see them shooting at the passenger side,”she said. “I start scream and persons run out when I see Kissoon she had blood on his hands because he get shoot,” the witness said.

Police are investigating the incident.
