Post-mortem on 25-year-old man reveals he was run over

A POST mortem examination performed on the body of 25-year-old Intiaz Muhammad of Tushen Housing Scheme, East Bank Essequibo, who met his demise after being ran over by a motor car HC 8814 on the One Mile Public Road Sunday morning, revealed that he died from crushing injuries consistent with being ran over by a motor vehicle.

The driver, Jermaine Jackson of Wisroc Linden, still remains in police custody as of investigations continue. The driver related that Muhammad was lying on the side of the road in an intoxicated state and he was blinded by a bright light from another car that was proceeding north. With limited visibility, he drove over Muhammad and still in denial, drove away but later reported to the Wismar Police Station where his car was impounded and he was taken into custody.

Commander of ‘E’ Division Linden Lord told this publication that there were two fatal accidents in one week in the division and he is therefore urging drivers to practice to Five C’s, more so during this festive season where intoxication will be on the rise, coupled with slippery roads. He is urging both drivers and pedestrians to be more cautious when using the road ways.

Last week, a collision between a pick-up and a truck along the Mabura trail on Friday resulted in the death of a 16-year-old boy: Clay Skybar of 111 Miles Mahdia in the Potaro/Siparuni Region. Reports are that the young man was in the tray of a pick-up which was heading to Mahdia around midday on Friday when the vehicle collided with the truck’s trailer around a turn. He was picked-up and rushed to the Linden Hospital Complex where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
