MALTEENOES all-rounder Nickosie Barker and West Indies U-19 cricketer Ronaldo Ali-Mohamed finished as the Most Valuable Players of Zone A and B respectively, in the just concluded Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA)/Noble House Second-Division Cricket tournament.
The pair produced all-round efforts for their teams: Malteenoes Sports Club (MSC), who made it to the semi-finals and Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC) who won the championship title.

MSC skipper Barker scored 151 runs and grabbed 16 wickets, with best bowling figures of 7-46 against Sophia in Zone A, while Ali-Mohamed scored 391 runs, which included three centuries, and took 19 wickets with his best being 6-30 against GYO.
The youngster was also instrumental in helping home team GCC to first-innings points in the final of the competition over the weekend.
Ali-Mohamed was also rewarded for recording the highest individual score, 177 for Gandhi Youth Organisation (GYO) in April.
Despite their all-round performance, Everest Cricket Club (ECC) left-arm spinner Javed Rasheed and GYO’s Yuedister Persaud grabbed the most wickets and made the most runs in the preliminary round of the competition.
Persaud struck 422 runs at an average of 55.25 while Rasheed, who also finished with best bowling figures in the early rounds, 9-51 vs Diplomats, nabbed a total of 26 wickets.
Police Sports Club’s Chemroy Kendall was also rewarded for his outstanding performance in the field.
In the final over the weekend, GCC got past Police via first-innings points. Seam bowler Bernard Bailey fired in 6-36 in the first innings to finish with a match-haul of 10-120, while Police’s Paul Tyndell struck the lone half-century of the game – an unbeaten 73.
