… Players asked to report for three-day trials next week
GREGORY ‘Jackie Chan’ Richardson and John ‘Brown Boy’ Waldron are among some of the country’s top futsal players, 40 of them to be exact, who were shortlisted by the Guyana Football Federation (GFF) to represent Guyana at the December 27-30 ExxonMobil/STAG Beer International Futsal tournament.
With Joseph ‘Bill’ Wilson as head coach, a select Guyana team will come up against Morvant Caledonia United from Trinidad and Tobago, ZV All-Stars of Suriname, a team from Sao Paulo Brazil, along with a team each from the East Bank, West Demerara and Linden sub-associations.
According to the organisers, six players will come from Linden, 23 from Georgetown, five from West Demerara, three from the East Bank and three from the East Coast.
It was explained that after the three-day (December 5, 8 and 9) trials the team will be selected, while those who were not lucky to make the cut for the ‘Team Guyana’ side, will head back to their respective sub-associations and make up their unit.
