– for carrying without licence
TWO labourers were on Thursday sentenced to three years imprisonment apiece by Magistrate Esther Sam at the Suddie Magistrate’s Court on a series of firearm and ammunition charges.
34-year-old Anthony Lamazon of Grant Cullen, Lower Pomeroon River and Munesh Ramsaroop, 27, of Charity Back Street, Essequibo Coast both pleaded guilty to having the items in their possession without having the requisite licences to do carry them.
The pair was apprehended by the police on Monday in a motorcar on the Charity Public Road with two 9mm pistols, three magazines and 58 live rounds of ammunition.
In addition to the three-year sentence, they were both slapped with a $100,000 fine.
