THE GUYANA Floodlights Softball Cricket Association (GFSCA) is elated with the support it received for the Guyana Softball Cup 8, which was held October 26-28 at various venues across Demerara.

Over 30 teams competed in the two-day competition, which had its grand finale at the Demerara Cricket Club (DCC) ground.
“The GFSCA takes the opportunity to congratulate Ariel Speedboat, who defended their title for the second time, Regal Masters and Parika Defenders for winning their respective categories and the Demerara Female team for defeating their Berbice counterparts,” a release stated.

The association also recognised the participation of the teams from North America including for the first time, four from Canada (Ontario Masters, Royal Canadian Masters, Softball Cricket Canada, Ontario Softball Cricket League) along with NYSCL, NY Hustlers, SVC and SVC Spartans, Orlando Masters, Parika Defenders, Floodlights Masters and Floodlights Legends, Farm XI, Regal All Stars and Regal Masters, Albion Masters, Tropical Springs, Fishermen Masters, Invaders Masters, Wellman, NY President’s Eleven, Narine Masters, Ariel Speedboat and Cotton Field Wild Oats.

The DCC, Malteenoes, Enmore, Ogle, Police, GNIC, YMCA, Transport Sports Club and MYO grounds came in for high praise, along with the caterers, umpires and everyone who made the event a success.

The association was also heartened by the support they got from corporate Guyana.
STAG Beer, RUBiS Guyana, Clear Waters, A & R Jiwanram Printery, Ramchand Auto Spares, Trophy Stall, Steve’s Jewellery, Mike’s Pharmacy, Survival Group of Business, Busta, Rohan Auto Spares and WJ Enterprise and new sponsors namely, Nandpersaud and Company under the Karibee rice brand, Windies Sports Bar of Toronto, Canada and Palm Court Restaurant and Bar on Main Street were all thanked through the release.
