CHAIRMAN of the Diamond-Grove Neighbourhood Democratic Council (NDC) Bharat Narine, was hailed as the best performing chairman by several during the second annual Region Four NDC’s Retreat and Fun Day.
“Exceptionally well, distinguished, superb and insightful,” were the words used to describe him when referring to several initiatives, projects and programmes he instituted.
Despite not serving the full term as Chairman of the Diamond Grove NDC, Narine was commended for his implementation of a number of new financial systems which helped to guard against fraud.
He was recognised as the one who discovered the massive fraud where some 40M was stolen from the coffers of the NDC after which he immediately summoned an investigation, according to a press release.
He was also credited for implementing several programmes which aided in significantly boosting the rates and collections among tax payers, while enhancing public’s confidence as several projects were implemented.
“What is very impressive with Chairman Narine is that he didn’t allow his political beliefs to get involved in serving the people of Diamond Grove or working along with a number of councillors on the other side of the house.”
“This is the kind of leadership that we need among our leaders and in my mind I will always recognise him for the great stewardship and leadership that he has provided to the people of that NDC,” said Chairman of the Haslington-Grove NDC, Roy Kingston.
Similarly, Chairman of Buxton Foulis Deon Abrams congratulated Narine, stating that his success is evident in his ability to establish several standing committees that have been effectively working.
At the same function, Chairman of the Caledonia/Good Success NDC, Dwarka Nauth, described Bharat Narine as a future leader in Guyana, expressing the view that he will do better in national politics.
“There is no doubt that Guyana can benefit better from the great skills and qualities of this man instead of an NDC, as I believe that a man with his skills and qualities can give more to national development,” Nauth said.
He urged other NDC’s to emulate Narine’s style and method of leadership by focusing on the work at hand and putting politics aside.
“There are many NDC Chairmen who are doing their best and trying to keep their performance at a high level. However Chairman Narine is certainly a class above the rest and while he is a new chairman, his intelligence and knowledge about getting things done are superb thus certainly reinforcing the view that he has been doing an exceptionally great job,” Nauth declared.
