–  Meet was a huge success, says Justice  Kennard

HORSE racing continues to attract huge crowds and provides excitement for the many spectators whenever there is an event.

Dubbed the Sport of Kings, yesterday’s pre-Diwali horse race meet held at the Kennard’s Memorial Turf Club was deemed a huge success. While some fans enjoyed the spectacle from the stands, thousands  preferred the informal picnic atmosphere.

Racing fans were rarely short of entertainment, and the large crowd was treated to top quality racing during the six-meet race card, especially in the feature event– H & Lower race.

Four animals sent horse racing fans into a frenzy after an even break saw Silver & Things of the J Cheefoon Racing Stables, winning a comfortable race.

The thoroughbred, which was ridden by jockey, Kevin Narine, took control of the race on the homestretch and ran away from the field for the first prize.

Not this Time won the second prize.

In the L Class non-earner (2018), Replace de Heat won ahead of Massapequea Dr., Royal Blaze and Boss Lady.

‘L’ Open had Miss Anjalie taking top honours from Touch Down and Touch Gold.

Race three for two years old maiden, was another competitive one with Princess Tasha winning from Awesome Banner, Humming Bird and Handson Drift.

In race four, L non-winner saw Delia crossing the finish line ahead of Red Weasel and Rosie.

The final race of the day for J3 & Lower, Touch Gold won ahead of Touch Down and Uprising.

Meanwhile, Justice Cecil Kennard expressed satisfaction that the day’s event was a huge success. Kennard, who is also the President of the turf club, pointed out that horse race has grown into a family tradition over the years because of the atmosphere. He thanked all involved and fans for an excellent day of racing.
