KENTON Haynes of Mocha, East Bank Demerara, appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courton Friday morning, charged with allegedly being in possession of 559 Ecstasy pills, weighing 219.7 grams, for the purpose of trafficking.

The Customs Anti-Narcotics Unit (CANU) said that Haynes and other males were arrested and taken into custody after CANU ranks intervened in an ecstasy transaction conducted at Orange Walk, where the suspected narcotics were found in Haynes’ possession.
He pleaded not guilty to the charge, which alleged that he had the illegal drugs in his possession on October 17 between Charlotte Street and Orange Walk, Georgetown. Haynes was released on $200,000 bail and was ordered to lodge his passport and to report to the Customs Anti-Narcotics Unit (CANU) weekly. The case will be called again on November 1.
