Duo busted with cocaine at Stabroek Market

TWO men who were being monitored for a while by agents of the Customs Anti-Narcotics Unit (CANU) were on Wednesday night arrested at the Stabroek Market area.
According to reports, the men were on CANU’s radar for a while and on Wednesday night based on information the unit received; a tab was put on the men. It was observed that they went to a car dealing establishment on Duncan Street, spent sometime in the building and then left.

The ranks trailed them and arrested them at the Stabroek Market area where searches on their person were carried out. Several kilos of cocaine were found to be in their possession and the men were promptly arrested. Ranks then went back to the location where they carried out a search but nothing was found. That took place on Wednesday night. By noon on Thursday, the ranks returned to the location and carried out an even more detailed search but again nothing was found.

The agents also carried out a search on another building which is owned by the businessman but that too proved that nothing illegal was there. The establishment is in the business of selling reconditioned or second hand vehicles and also spare parts. The proprietor was, just a few weeks ago, caught on video verbally abusing a policeman.
