THE Berbice Cricket Board (BCB) last Tuesday benefited from $200 000 worth of trophies. The donation was made possible through His Excellency President David Granger.

The donation is a major boost to cricket development in the Ancient County and will assist the BCB in its drive to successfully host 22 cricket tournaments at all levels in 2018.

BCB president Hilbert Foster hailed the large donation of trophies from the Guyanese leader and Ministry of the Presidency.

The trophies will be used in other tournaments to be played in the next two months as well as to honour outstanding players at the different levels.

The BCB, for the first time in its history, will also commence preparations for the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) junior Inter-county tournaments, four months in advance.

Foster, who is also the Secretary/CEO of Guyana’s leading youth and sports organisation, the Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club, (RHTY&SC) disclosed that the board was very grateful for the donation.

Foster noted that when his administration took over in February this year, a meagre $42 000 was in the BCB’s bank account, and over the last eight months the board has raised over $8M worth in cash and kind from local and overseas donors.

Former Secretary and current BCB Administrator Angela Haniff expressed gratitude to the Guyanese President for his kind gesture.
