Operators and residents of Region Nine (Upper Takutu-Upper Essequibo) and persons entering Guyana from neighbouring Brazil are being targeted by the Guyana Office for Investment (GO-Invest) for local investment.

On Monday, the agency erected its first billboard, promoting investment in Lethem, strategically positioned close to the Brazilian border.

Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of GO-Invest, Owen Verwey along with Guyana’s Ambassador to Brazil, George Talbot; Mayor of Lethem, Kerry Jarvis and other officials of the Region cut the ribbon to symbolically launch the billboard yesterday.

According to GO Invest Deputy Chief Executive Officer/Corporate Secretary, Natalia Seepersaud, the agency is currently working on designs for billboards to be placed at other locations.

The billboard situated in Lethem, Region Nine (Upper Takutu-Upper Essequibo) near the Brazilian border.

These include the entrance into Guyana from Suriname and the Cheddi Jagan International Airport (CJIA); both of which they intend to facilitate this year.
The main objective of the activity is to bring public awareness to GO-Invest and the services it provides and to promote all sectors of investment in Guyana.
Special priority is being placed in areas such as agriculture and agro-processing; manufacturing; forestry; tourism; information and communication technology; mining; services and energy.

However, the agency reminds that it also actively promotes non-traditional exports and emergent export sectors such as garments and textiles; seafood and beef; eco-tourism; horticultural products; wood, ceramic and woven handicrafts and processed foods.
