POLICE in Berbice have arrested two persons in connection with the robbery and rape of a young mother which occurred Sunday night.

According to information, the young woman, along with her mother and two children, were in the bottom flat of the house when two masked men, armed with guns, pounced on them demanding cash and valuables. They relieved the woman of one LG cellphone, four silver bangles and three silver rings.

Before making their escape, one of the men reportedly held the young mother at gunpoint and took her to a secluded spot where he sexually assaulted her. The Police were informed and arrived promptly at the scene, but the men had already made good their escape.
