– on robbery-with-violence charge

CHIEF Magistrate Ann McLennan on Tuesday remanded a 31-year-old Agricola man to prison for a robbery-with-violence charge.

Michael Young of Titus Street, Agricola is accused of robbing Saura Simon of a $10,000 purse with $20,000 cash in it, with the use of personal violence.The incident reportedly occurred last Friday on the Houston Public Road, East Bank Demerara.

He pleaded not guilty to the charge and was remanded to prison until Friday.
According to reports, on the day in question Young walked up to the victim, relieved her of her purse, and then cuffed her in the face.

Only the intervention of a public-spirited citizen saved her from further injury.
