THE curtain came down on the third edition of the Limacol football tournament on Friday evening, with Police FC securing a hard-fought win against Pouderoyen.
Police scored early through Anthio Wallace who gathered a through ball into the box before converting past the keeper in the 12th minute.
The result doubled in the 32nd after a defensive error let him slip through.
However, a goalkeeping error gave the West Demerara side a fighting chance in the 34th when Alex Andrew’s shot slipped through the keeper’s glove.
It was then that Pouderoyen began a fightback that pushed Police on the defensive till the halftime whistle.
On the return, Wallace restored the two-goal deficit for the lawmen in the 60th before Dexroy Adams sealed the deal in the 82nd.
Darrel Abrams (90+1) scored the second for Pouderoyen but by then, the writing was on the wall.
In the third place playoff, Riddim Squad beat Santos 2-1 in extra time.
Sherwin Hope’s own goal in the 5th gave Santos the lead before James Bowman restored order in the 44th. In the end, it was Kevin Gordon (90+22) who gave Riddim Squad the win.
