Father bailed after lashing son to head with pipe

A FATHER, who was accused of hitting his 10-year-old son in the head with a pipe, was on Friday released on bail after he appeared before a city magistrate on a wounding charge.

40-year-old Rudolph Lyken denied the charge which stated on October 2, 2018 at Durban Street, Werk-en-Rust, he unlawfully wounded his 10-year-old son.
The father of three pleaded not guilty to the charge that was read out to him by the magistrate.

Police prosecutor Dinero Jones had no objection to bail.
According to the facts presented in court by the police prosecutor, on the day in question at around 08:00hrs, the defendant dealt a lash to the victim’s head with a piece of pipe. The victim was taken the hospital.

The defendant told the court that he did not intend to do it.

However he was released on $80,000 bail by Magistrate Judy Latchman. The matter was adjourned to November 2, 2018.
