Six NOC escapees still on the lam

SIX of the 13 teenage boys who escaped from the New Opportunity Corps (NOC) last week are still unaccounted for.

Police sources say that the captured escapees gave no specific reason for their illicit act during interrogation. This publication was told that most of the escapees are repeat offenders, who had escaped from the facility in the past.

The six were recaptured between Onderneeming and Adventure on the Essequibo Coast. By mid-morning on Thursday and the wee hours of Friday morning, 13 inmates of the NOC sneaked out of the facility.

The Guyana Chronicle was informed that on Thursday, 10 inmates, ages 15 to 17, left the facility and by early Friday morning, another three inmates within the same age group were reported missing.

The escapees were said to be from communities across Guyana. In normal circumstances, when inmates escaped from custody, the police would usually check with their parents, since they would return home.
