…motor cycles, dried cannabis found

Police on Tuesday acting on intelligence destroyed a large cultivation of marijuana at Eight Miles Ituni Road, Upper Demerara River.

During the raid,the law men found a five-acre plot of marijuana cultivation with about 5,000 cannabis plants measuring from three inches to five feet in height with an estimated weight about 400kgs. A quantity of dried cannabis estimated about 50 kilograms was also found.

There were two male shift camps with four hammocks, kitchen utensils, clothing, groceries and farming tools, the police said in a release.

The plants, dried cannabis and camps were photographed and destroyed by fire and the grid location was marked for further investigation. Two motor cycles were discovered on the trail leading to the farm. No one was arrested at the farm.
