INDIRA Outar 43, of Lot 8 Block 4, Tain, who is the alleged mastermind behind the murder of Leilawattie Mohamed called “Aunt Leila,” was set free by Magistrate Charlyn Artiga at the Whim Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday.

Outar had allegedly hired five persons to murder Mohamed, who was reportedly having an affair with her husband. The businesswoman, who operates a sawmill on the East Bank of Berbice, had allegedly promised $4M for the hit however, only $400,000 was handed over.
The magistrate ruled that there was no evidence to indicate that the accused made any payment to the five or any evidence which proved that she was at the crime scene. Additionally, the magistrate, in her ruling, stated the prosecution failed to prove Outar had any meeting with the five suspects.
Meanwhile, on Monday when the preliminary inquiry into the murder of Mohamed continued before Magistrate Artiga, the court heard a prima facie has been made out against Oliver Permaul 36, his wife Nazima Permaul 42, Andre James 26, and Rohan Johnson 39, the accused in the murder. Shabiki Alert Thompson – the fifth accused, was discharged.

The four accused, when asked if they had anything to say, proclaimed their innocence and one of them indicated that he will call one witness. This was noted by the magistrate, who adjourned the case until October 15th for continuation and for the police to inform the witness. On February 15th, five persons were jointly charged with the murder of Mohamed who was gunned down at her home on February 7th, 2017. On the day of the murder, two men stormed into the home of Mohamed,45, and executed her in the presence of her son and daughter. They shot her in the throat at point blank range.
