A ONE-year-old baby of La Grange, West Bank Demerara has died after allegedly being fed rat poison by his older brother.

The child, Andre Kerron Tappin, reportedly died Wednesday at the Georgetown Public Hospital, where he was rushed after initially being admitted to the West Demerara Regional Hospital at Vreed-en-Hoop.

Reports are that the children’s mother had between 08.00 and 08.45hrs that morning left the baby and a sister in the care of her eldest son, who’s nine, while she went about her business.

But before leaving, the Guyana Chronicle has learnt, she’d sent the boy to the shop to buy the very rat poison he fed his baby brother.

She only learnt of this when she returned home and tried to feed the baby and he started to vomit.

The matter is being investigated by the police.
