Preparation for Prime Minister T20 Cup 2 heats up

– Regal Masters, RR Masters clash today at Everest

WITH the second edition of the Prime Minister T20 Softball Cup 2 billed for October 19-21, at least two teams will have a chance to experiment on their team make-up and at the same time have that additional preparation ahead of the much-talked about three-day tournament.

Today, Regal Masters and RR Masters will clash in the final of the Georgetown Softball Cricket League Inc. (GSCL)/Crown Mining Supply, Ink Plus and Elegant Jewellery and Pawn Shop final at the Everest Cricket Club ground.

It is expected that a fierce battle will ensue between the two teams, since both teams boast a number of leading Over-40 players in the city.

Regal Masters, led by Mahendra Hardyal, will include Mohendra Arjune, Eon Abel, Mahase Chunilall, Troy Kippins, David Harper and Eric Thomas while RR Masters will look to the likes of Richard Persaud, Raymond Harper, Dharam Persaud, Peter Persaud, Mohamed Rafeek and Ron Ramnauth.

In an invited comment, Hardyal expressed confidence of winning, adding that, once his players stick to the basics of the game, the title will definitely be with the Regal Masters.

Hardyal, a passionate softball enthusiast and promoter, also said that today’s game serves as preparation for major assignments scheduled for later this year.

On the other hand, Rafeek of RR Masters indicated that while Regal Masters are a formidable unit, the team that plays better on the day will come out successful.

According to the organisers, added entertainment will be provided off the field, including cheerleaders. Prizes will be given to both teams and outstanding players. Play will start at 09:30hrs.
