A BUSINESSMAN of Pearl Public Road, East Bank Demerara, who allegedly drew a handgun and threatened to shoot two police ranks who attempted to arrest him on Friday afternoon, has been arrested.
Reports indicate that the incident occurred at Puruni Landing, Region Seven.
On Saturday morning at about 08:00hrs, a police team, inclusive of the ranks who were threatened, returned to Puruni on two ATVs and spotted the suspect on a motorcycle and signalled him to stop.
The businessman reportedly drove into one of the ATVs and fractured his left leg. He was promptly arrested and a search of his person revealed an unlicensed.38 Special Ruger Revolver with three live rounds.
A haversack the suspect had also contained 137 grams of cannabis.
The 33-year-old businessman has since been admitted a patient at the Bartica Hospital under guard. Police are investigating the incident.
