THE Bel West Primary School, West Bank Demerara (WBD), came out on top of the inaugural Young Pioneers Spelling Bee competition on Friday.
Although it was a friendly match, the students who participated in the competition were competitive and did their best to win.

Kawall Primary and Crane Primary competed against Bel West for the prize. Each school was represented by four pupils. The competition, which was organised by the West Coast Demerara (WCD) branch of Young Pioneers, received support from not just fellow pupils but also teachers and parents who were enthused by the spelling bee.

Head Pioneer for the WCD/WCB branch, Sasha Rawof said the competition was a success, and that they will be looking to make it part of the group’s calendar of activities every year.
Although the Bel West Primary School won, every child who participated in the contest was given a medal and stationery.
