APPEARING before the Chief Magistrate, Ann McLennan on Monday was a 28-year-old taxi driver who was charged for the alleged rape of a 15-year-old girl.

Travis John of South Ruimveldt was not required to plead to the charge which read that on February 1, 2017 at Kitty he engaged in sexual penetration of a child under the age of 16.
The matter was held in camera and John was released on $150,000 bail. The matter will be recalled on August 20.

According to reports, John and the 15-year-old communicated via social media and on the day in question he went over to her home, where he engaged in sexual activity with her.
The child’s mother later found out what had transpired and reported the matter to the police. John, was also recently arrested on another criminal charge.
