Bandits attack couple on seawall

TWO bandits, one armed with a knife robbed a 33-year-old sales clerk of her valuables while stabbing her friend in the arm in the vicinity of the seawall on the Rupert Craig Highway on Sunday night.

The attack occurred at 23:40hrs on the sales clerk of Industry, East Coast Demerara and her friend, who is a miner of Laing Avenue, Georgetown.

Reports indicate that the duo was sitting on the seawall when the two bandits stopped at their location while riding a black Jialing motorcycle.

The men reportedly demanded that she hand over her phone. However, when the woman initially resisted, one of the robbers hit her on the head with a hard object.

The woman’s male friend then reportedly jumped to her rescue, resulting in him being stabbed once to his left armpit.

The bandits then grabbed her phone from her hand and fled the scene. The robbery was quickly reported and the couple was transported to the Georgetown Public Hospital they were treated as police continue their investigations.
