Bandits rob couple after bank withdrawal

TWO armed bandits attacked and robbed a couple of cash they withdrew from an East Coast Demerara (ECD) bank after they had purchased building supplies and returned to their Non Pariel, ECD home on Thursday.

The victims, a 36-year-old customs broker and a 45-year -old overseas-based Guyanese woman, were robbed of $700,000 along with their cell phones and jewelry.

Reports indicate that the duo withdrew over $14M from the bank to purchase materials for construction on a house. Upon their return home the duo exited their vehicle when two armed bandits ordered them to lie on the ground while they relieved them of their valuables.

One of the suspects went into the vehicle and took out a bag containing cash while he fired a shot into the air before they escaped in a silver Toyota Allion car.

Police were contacted and a 32 spent shell was found at the scene as police continue their investigations.
