APPEARING in court before Magistrate Fabayo Azore at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday was 32-year-old gym instructor Darious Ramsammy, charged for wounding his girlfriend during an argument.
Ramsammy was released on $50,000 bail after denying that on June 16 at Castello Housing Scheme, he unlawfully and maliciously wounded Danita Bobb.
His attorney, Everton Lammy-Singh, during an application for bail told the court that his client acted in self-defence and it was Bobb who attacked him.
Police Prosecutor Simone Payne made no objection. The court was told that on the day in question, there was an argument between the couple when Ramsammy became annoyed, armed himself with a knife and stabbed Bobb to the chest.
Magistrate Azore adjourned the matter until July 18.
