‘Papo’ finds rhythm in El Dorado golf tourney

EXPERIENCED golfer Nazeem ‘Papo’ Haniff found his rhythm to cart off Sunday’s main prize in the Annual El Dorado Medal Play Golf tournament played at the Lusignan Golf Course.
Haniff shot net 68/9 to beat Balgobin Ragnauth with net 69/21 into second position.

Aleem Hussain 69/11 and Richard Haniff 69/11 rounded off the top four performers. In addition to the tie of Net 69 for 2nd, 3rd and 4th places, the Net scores up to 72 showed just how keenly the tournament was contested.

Avinash Persaud had the best gross of 75, while Nearest to the Pin was won by Haniff.
Close Net scores were returned by Patanjalee Persaud 70/18; Munaf Arjune 71/9; Kassim Khan 71/9; Patrick Prashad 72/9; Troy Cadogan 72/25; Avinash Persaud 73/2; Lekhnarine Shivraj 73/18; and Brian Hackett 73/19.

Haniff who has not been in the winner’s seat for quite a while after he was the Guyana Open Men’s Champion some eight years ago.
On hand to formally open the tournament was Eldorado Brand Manager, Maria Munro, expressed the company’s pleasure to be involved with the Lusignan Golf Club.

She committed the company’s continue support to the club in its development.

On hand to assist with the distribution of prizes and hampers were five of the finalists of the Miss World Guyana pageant, including winner Ambika Ramraj, first runner-up Tracy Smith and second runner-up Joylyn Conway.
