Chaos broke out at the Abrams Creek Primary School in the Upper Pomeroon, Region Two(Pomeroon/Supenaam) today when a child was heard screaming for help after her friend fell  in the nearby waterway.

Ramesh Khan was last seen playing with his friend around 11:40 hrs. According to reports , the six-year-old child went to the river side to  wash his feet when he fell  over a ‘landing.’

His friend raised an alarm and teachers  responded to the scene but could not locate the child despite valiant efforts  to find him.

Parents of the child, Reveka and Doodnauth Khan of Abrams Creek, were too distraught to speak. Reports are that the couple were home when they received a call from the school staff, stating that their son was feared dead.

Late this afternoon a diver scoured the creek for the child’s body, however his efforts were unsuccessful. Search efforts will continue on  Wednesday.(Indrawattie Natram)
