A WASH-BAY operator was on Sunday night shot while being relieved of his valuables by two bandits, one of whom was armed with a handgun and has since been caught.
The victim has been identified as Leroy Robinson, 38, of Broad and Lombard Streets, Charlestown.
Police say the unarmed bandit is the one who relieved the victim of his Blu cellular phone and a small sum of cash, whilst the gunman stood guard. The gunman subsequently shot the victim once in his left knee and both men then made good their escape.
The police were alerted and prompt action by a rank on motorcycle patrol resulted in the apprehension of the armed suspect a short distance from the crime scene, and the recovery of a .38 revolver and a spent shell on his person.
Efforts are being made to have the other suspect quickly apprehended. Meanwhile, the victim is receiving medical attention at a government medical institution where he is said to be in a stable condition.
Investigations are ongoing.
