Grenada confirms participation for 3rd Caribbean Schoolboys and Juniors Boxing

THE Grenada Boxing Association has confirmed its participation in this year’s Caribbean Schoolboys and Juniors Boxing Championships set for August 17 to 19, here in Guyana at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall.

The Spice Isle will be fielding a six-member team made up of three male boxers, one female, a coach and a referee/judge.
According to Guyana Boxing Association president Steve Ninvalle, 10 countries are expected to be a part of the championships and already the GBA has stepped up its preparation for the mega event which is expected to see punches galore.

Only last Saturday, the association staged its first of five schoolboys and novices tournaments in preparation for the Caribbean championships. The final one will be held on August 8.
All five days of competition will be held at the Andrew `Six Head’ Lewis Gym situated at Callender Street and Independence Boulevard.

At last Saturday’s activity, Harpy Eagles dominated the Schoolboys category, chalking up three victories from four fights, while in the Juniors category, Forgotten Youth Foundation won three of four fight also.

AIBA Three-Star coach Sebert Blake has been put in charge of organising the local tournaments leading up to the Caribbean championships.
