Possible playoff matches for Guyana in CPL 2018

GUYANA may still be on the cards as a host venue for the Hero Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2018.

While several reports published recently did not feature Guyana as a host venue for any of the matches, an indication that the country may possibly host matches came yesterday.
The CPL released media accreditation forms which featured accreditation for Guyana as a host venue, ending many fears that matches might not be hosted here.

More surprising is that said form featured accreditation for playoff matches in Guyana, separate and aside from the Group stage matches.
A call to CPL’s Head of PR and Communications Peter Miller, confirmed that matches may be heading this way.

“We really appreciate the patience of Guyanese CPL fans as we wait while we finish up the final few details and we are hoping that we can confirm everything that is going to happen with those games, very shortly,” he said.
There are seven matches with venues unconfirmed so far.

The first is the Guyana Amazon Warriors (GAW) and the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots on August 9 with another two days later seeing the GAW take on the St Lucia Stars as well as one on August 12 when the GAW play the Barbados Tridents.
Just under a month later on September 8 and 9, GAW face the Jamaica Tallawahs then the Trinbago Knight Riders at unnamed venues.

The two play-off matches are also set for September 11 and 12.
The other regular host countries already have their fixtures dates and locations with Jamaica to host two matches on August 14 & 15.
Trinidad has three matches between August 8 and 11 and two matches on September 5 and 6 as well as the semifinal and final on September 14 and 16 while Barbados has four matches between August 25 and September 2.

The United States has three matches between August 18 and 22 while St Lucia has five matches between August 16 and 25. St Kitts has five matches between August 28 and September 4.
Miller continued, “We are currently working with the Guyana Government to bring as many games of CPL cricket to Guyana as possible.”
