Police are investigating a shooting incident in which two enforcement officers attached to the Guyana Revenue Authority (GRA) sustained gunshot injuries to their hands after coming under fire from gunmen in two vehicles on Thursday night.
According to the police , around 21:50hrs on Thursday , the officers went to a house at Bee Hive, East Coast Demerara .
According to reports , soon after the officers arrived at the house and were making enquiries of its owner, two cars , a Toyota Premio and a Toyota Allion , approached and the occupants of the two cars discharged several rounds at them . The officers adapted tactical positions and returned fire ; the vehicles then sped away.
The two officers were treated at a private medical institution and were sent away.No one has been arrested in connection with the incident.
