Troy Lewis Barker, a labourer of Alexander Street , Kitty in Georgetown was on Monday fined $3000 and sentenced to two months community service after he pleaded guilty for the possession of 4.7 grams of cannabis.

Barker made an appearance before Magistrate Esther Sam at the Charity Magistrate’s Court on Monday.

The drug was found in the man’s possession at Buckhall on the Essequibo River during a police raid.

When the case was called on Monday , Barker pleaded guilty and admitted to the offence.  He is expected to perform his sentence within the environs of the Charity Police Station. (Indrawattie Natram)
