FOLLOWIN a dismal showing at the first leg of the Caribbean Motor Racing Championship (CMRC) last month in Jamaica, the Guyana Motor Racing and Sports Club has named a strong team for round two.
After round one, once back-to-back champions Guyana now sits at the bottom of the table in seventh with twelve points and second in the superstock standings.
Ahead of them in the following order are Cayman Islands (32), Barbados (54), USA/CAMS (80), Trinidad (144), Antigua (205) and Jamaica (506).
On the superstock end, Jamaica has 167 points while Guyana has 66 and Trinidad and Tobago 45.
However, round two, which is set for the Frankie Boodram International Wallerfield Raceway in Trinidad later this month, will boast a proposed 13 member team which loads for the voyage between June 14 and 16.
Headlining the proposed team is the defending 4-wheel-drive Group 4 champion, Andrew King, in his Mazda Rx7. He will lead the session alongside Mark Vieira (Group 4) Mazda Rx8.
Group three has Danny Persaud (Mazda Miata), Rameez Mohamed (Toyota Starlet), VIshok Persaud (Lotus Elise) and Motilal Deodass (Toyota Starlet)
Group two will have Shan Seejattan (Honda Civic) and Mohamed (Honda Civic) and Rafeeq Khan (Toyota Starlet) while Group 1 has Sharima Khan (Honda Del Sol).
The superstock class will have Matthew Vieira (Yamaha R6), Paul Yearwood (Yamaha R6) and Team Mohamed’s Matt True-Love (Yamaha R6).
Apart from those, Mark Vieira is expected to ship his SR3 Radical for an invitational series that will take place during the second round, though information surrounding that series is yet to be released.
The second round of the CMRC 2018 championship takes place from June 23-24.
