Region Two holds secondary school table tennis competition

IN observance of Guyana’s 52nd Independence Anniversary the Ministry of the Presidency, Department of Social Cohesion – Culture, Youth and Sport, National Sports Commission through its Regional Sports Organiser – held an Inter-dormitory circle tennis training and an Inter-Secondary School table tennis knockout competition in Region Two.

The tournament was held on the 25th of May in the Anna Regina Multilateral Secondary covered area, under the supervision of the Essequibo Table Tennis Association sub-members.

Students from Anna Regina Multilateral, Abram’s Zuil Secondary, Johanna Cecelia Secondary and Aurora Secondary participated in the three categories of the competition in both male and female divisions.

Essequibo Table Tennis Association – sub-resident Gary Williams encouraged participants to continue training. Regional Sports Organiser Ms Daniels also thanked the students, teachers, and head teachers of all the participating schools as well as Regional Education Officer, Ms Nicola Matthews and Director of Sport Mr Christopher Jones for making the training programme and competition a success.

Meanwhile, Inter-Dormitory circle tennis training was held on May 23 and 24 at the Anna Regina Multilateral playfield and was facilitated by former Essequibo circle tennis captain Mr Ewart Moore.

Participating in the tennis training were dormitory students from Anna Regina Multilateral Secondary and Aurora Secondary.
