Police are investigating a murder of a miner who was fatally stabbed by another man on Saturday morning at Beterverwagting ,East Coast Demerara (ECD).

Dead is 23-year-old Edward Beveney of Ogle Street, ECD. This publication was informed that Beveney sustained multiple stab wounds about his body following an altercation with another man who lives at Ann’s Grove, ECD. The suspect was also injured during the altercation.

Reports are that the victim visited a shop earlier on Saturday and left his bicycle outside.When he returned to pick-up the bicycle , he was told the the assailant had moved it. A confrontation subsequently ensued between the two men who were both armed with sharp items.

Reports are that the suspect inflicted several stab wounds on Beveney and during the melee , the police arrived at the scene and escorted the two men to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation.

Beveney was pronounced dead on arrival, while the suspect is presently receiving treatment. Investigations are ongoing.
