Two homes gutted in Hadfield Street fire

Several persons are now homeless after a fire of unknown origin gutted two homes at Hadfield Street  in the city.

Reports are that the fire started between 16:30 and 1700hrs at the homes, on of which was occupied by 11 persons , including the D’Arealla family.

Reports are that several children , including two toddlers, were at home at the time when a child observed the fire in a section of one of the houses. She then raised an alarm.

City Mayor , Patricia Chase-Green comforts an occupant of one of the homes.

Family members broke down as firemen and public spirited citizens attempted to salvage their belongings from the blaze.

Members of the Guyana Fire Service are investigating the  cause of the fire.
