Demerara dominate Essequibo in GCB Female Inter-county opener

WITH slightly overcast weather conditions yesterday at the Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC) ground, Bourda, a scattering of spectators saw Essequibo taking on Demerara in the first round of the 50-over format of the 2018 GCB Senior Female Inter-County tournament.

In a match dominated by bowlers, Demerara took command of the game, bowling out the Essequibo team for a meagre 39 in 16.5 overs. Heema Singh and Keisha Shultz dominated the bowling, collecting 4 wickets each for 19 and 5 runs respectively.
Keisha Shultz was awarded MVP of the match.

Demerara in reply, reached their target in just 5.5 overs with 8 wickets to spare. Opening batters, Mandy Mangru top scored with 17 while Latoya Smith contributed 15. Kimonie Persaud was the lone wicket-taker for Essequibo.

Today will see Berbice doing battle with Essequibo at the Lusignan Community Centre ground from 09:30 hrs.
