KEVIN Christopher Balkaran who was jailed for four months in 2016 for assault on Wednesday committed a similar offence and appeared before a city magistrate.

It is alleged that on April 16,, 2018 at Houston Housing Scheme, Balkaran used abusive language and assaulted Melissa Balkaran. On the same day, police said he used abusive language towards Usha Balkaran.

It was further alleged that on the same day he unlawfully and maliciously broke a table valued $35,000.
Christopher pleaded guilty to all the charges read out to him in court.

He told the court that the virtual complainants kept him locked up in the house and one of his hands was chained to the table. He added that Melissa Balkaran provoked him by hitting him on his chest and he retaliated by cuffing her to her mouth and splitting her lip.
After listening to his explanation, Magistrate Fabayo Azore entered a not guilty plea and the matter was transferred to another court.
