Football argument results in stabbing

A 35-year-old man has appeared before a city magistrate on an attempted murder charge.
It is alleged that on April 11, 2018 at Coverden, East Bank Demerara, Julian Knox unlawfully wounded Keith Darton with intent to harm or murder him.

According to the prosecution’s facts given in court, the two men are known to each other. They play football together and on the day in question, they had an argument. The defendant armed himself with a broken bottle and gave Darton several stabs about the body, causing him to be hospitalised for three days.

The prosecutor didn’t object to bail, but asked that the defendant surrender his passport and report to the nearest police station every Friday.
Bail was granted by Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan in the sum of $250,000 and the matter was adjourned to April 30, 2018.
