GEORGETOWN Mayor Patricia Chase-Green finds it ludicrous that people would think that $66M would be set aside for the Town Clerk Royston King’s office only.
“I mean, can you imagine in your own mind spending $66M in one office on furniture? I mean, it’s unbelievable. Come on!” she said following Monday’s statutory meeting.
She explained that under the Town Clerk’s office, there are many sub-heads, meaning that the Public Relations Department, the Information Technology Department, the registry and a number of other departments fall under the office of the Town Clerk.
The Deputy Town Clerk and Assistant Town Clerk also fall under King’s office, Chase-Green pointed out.
“The budget is not out as yet, so I will not make any comment on anything in the budget. But when it is being read sometime in the near future, you will hear exactly how those monies are being allocated,” she said.
