IN-FORM cyclist Hamzah Eastman will be hard-pressed to make a successful defence of his title, which he won in last year’s edition of the Chin Chan Bicycle Shop road race.
Eastman can expect keen competition from Jamal John, Andrew Hicks, Christopher Holder, Curtis Dey and a host of other riders who are all in good form at the moment and are all seeking to ride away with the $60 000 first prize.
During the course of the event, there will be eight $5 000 prime prizes up for grabs and the registration fee is $2 500 which includes lunch and refreshments.
This second edition of the event is being sponsored by Ian Q.B. Davis of Team Coco’s, T. Chung Auto Repairs of New York, USA and Mark Duke (McKay Auto Repairs of NY).
It wheels off from Grove Public Road, East Bank Demerara, proceeds to the Coca Cola sign on the Linden/Soesdyke Highway and turns around, finishing at the place of origin.
Five categories of cyclists – seniors (open), juniors, veterans, mountain bikers and females – will be vying for the top prizes.
