Mentally challenged man killed in accident

A 49-year-old unemployed man of Number Five Village, West Coast Berbice (WCB), said to be mentally challenged died in a road accident Thursday morning.
Reports indicate that Dwain Schultz, also known as “Hopetown” of Lot 12, Number Five Village, WCB,  may have either launched himself into the path of the moving vehicle, or may have suffered a blackout and fell into its path while crossing the public highway around 06:00hrs.

He was rushed to the Fort Wellington Cottage Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Relatives said the unmarried man was a competent electrician, but became an alcoholic after he lost his job at Mabura, Region 10, some time ago.
“He had mental issues and these were very pronounced Thursday night, all night before he eventually met his demise yesterday morning,” a relative said.
Schultz’s remains are awaiting a post-mortem while the driver of the motor car is assisting the police with the investigation.
