A man was on Monday fined $100,000 or default one month jail by Principal Magistrate Judy Latchman for beating his daughter after beating his daughter because she came home late from school.
Ibeniko Fredericks accepted that on March 5 at East La Penitence , Georgetown he unlawfully and maliciously assaulted his 16-year-old daughter to cause her actual bodily harm.
The facts revealed that on the day in question the child came home late from school and when her father asked her where she had been she answered in a rude tone of voice.
The man became angry and held on to her hair and pushed her onto the ground and began slapping her.
He then armed himself with a wooden scrubbing board and dealt her several lashes. The man then picked up an iron pipe and hit the child about her body.
The next day when the teen attended school , a teacher who saw the visible marks on her body , reported the matter to welfare officials and the father was arrested.
