The Essequibo Cricket Board (ECB) selectors recently met to select the squad after the players were involved in a weeklong encampment as well as two trial matches including a match against the South Essequibo Under-17 team.
National Under-15 wicketkeeper/batsman, Lance Roberts, will be at the helm with Sheldon Charles, another national Under-15 all-rounder as his deputy.
The full squad reads:- Lance Roberts (captain), Sheldon Charles (vice-captain), Ameer Singh, Azim Mohamed, Wazim Mohamed, Lallchand Seeram, Manoj Dasrath, Romario Stephen, Saeed Hakh, Mahesh Ramnarine, Arvind Premaul, Badesh Parsotam, Silvan Williams and Jason Payne. The manager is Nazeer Mohamed while Nankishore Andrews will serve as coach.
The tournament will feature Essequibo, Demerara, Berbice and an Under-15 select team.
The players will seek to impress since the competition will be used to select the national team for the upcoming regional tournament. Matches will be played on March 7, 9 and 11 at various venues in Georgetown.
