A STAR-STUDDED Kendall’s Union Sports Stars (KUSS) emerged champions of the recently concluded Ramnarine ‘Brother’ Appiah T20 one-day tournament played at the Kendall’s Union cricket ground, No 19 Village, Berbice.

They defeated arch rivals Kendall’s Union Sports Club (KUSC) in a close finish by seven wickets in a game reduced to eight overs-a-side due to fading light.
KUSC batted first, reached 60-3 off the allotted overs with Errol Garnett scoring an unbeaten 23 and Seecharran 16. Tayah took two wickets. In reply, KUSS made 63-3 in the final over. Debiden, Mahadeo and Rudolph Baker made double figures.
Meanwhile, in the first semi-final, Seawell won the toss and took first strike, scoring 71-9. Martin Baker and J. Chunilall made 15 runs each. Bowling for KUSC, Samuel Baker and Ravin Seecharran took two wickets apiece.

In reply, KUSC raced to 74-1`off 7.2 overs with Daniel Baker leading the way with an unbeaten 45. E Garnett supported with 26 not out.
In the second semi-final, KUSS plundered Jai Hind’s bowling to amass 126-2 off 10 overs with former national Under-19 player Khemraj Mahadeo smashing an unbeaten 47. He got support from former national wicketkeeper/batsman Delbert Hicks with 46 and Dasrath Debiden 23.

In reply, Jai Hind struggled to 69-5 with Khemraj Sumair 22. Joshua Tayah took two wickets for the winning team.
Mukesh Appiah thanked everyone who made the event possible. The tournament was sponsored by Mukesh Appiah and family in honour of his father.
