AN autopsy conducted on transgender sex worker, Donneikel Campbell, called “Mogo”, who died on Sunday after he reportedly jumped into the path of a vehicle at Vreed-en-Hoop, West Coast Demerara (WCD), gave the man’s cause of death “as multiple injuries due to a motor vehicle accident.”
Campbell, a security guard of Lot 23 Ann’s Grove, East Coast Demerara, was reportedly struck by motorcar PRR 5279, being driven by a 40-year-old resident of Ruimveldt, Georgetown.
According to information, the car was proceeding west along the southern carriageway of the Vreed-en-Hoop Public Road when Campbell allegedly ran across the road from north to south and was struck by the vehicle.
Campbell who sustained injuries to his head and body, was picked up by public-spirited persons and rushed to the West Demerara Regional Hospital (WDRH) in a conscious state. He died while receiving treatment at the hospital. The driver of the vehicle is currently in police custody assisting with the investigation. A breathalyzer test performed on the driver showed no evidence of alcohol.
However, relatives are of the opinion that Campbell’s demise was as a result of foul play.
An investigation has been launched into the accident.
